The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, I may receive a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. The price is the same whether you use my link or go direct.
The longer version, because you deserve one
Running a blog costs money. Hosting, domain, tools, the occasional trip somewhere I then write about. Affiliate commission is how those costs get covered, and how the site keeps being free to read with no advertising cluttering it up.
Here is how it works. If I mention a product or service and link to it, that link sometimes carries a code identifying this site. If you go on to buy, the retailer pays me a small percentage. You pay the normal price.
My rules, and I do stick to them
- I only recommend things I would genuinely recommend. If I have not used it, or would not suggest it to a friend, it does not go on here — no matter what the commission is.
- The recommendation comes first, the link second. I do not write articles around whatever pays best.
- Honest about the bad bits. If something is flawed, I say so, including things I earn from.
- Clearly marked. Any article containing affiliate links says so at the top.
- No paid positive reviews. Nobody pays me to say nice things about them.
What I am not
I am not a lawyer, an accountant, a doctor or an immigration adviser. Everything here is my own experience of living in Malaysia, offered in good faith. Rules change, prices change, and your circumstances are not mine — so check anything important against an official source before you act on it. Where I quote a figure, I say when it was accurate.
Questions
If you ever want to know whether a particular link earns me anything, just ask on the contact page. I will tell you straight.
And if you would rather I did not earn anything, ignore the links and search for the product yourself. No hard feelings. I would still rather you got the right information.
