This is the privacy policy for Edward in KL (also published as Allready Eddy). It explains what information this site collects, why, and what happens to it. It is written in plain English because I find most privacy policies unreadable and I assume you do too.
Who runs this site
This site is written and run by Edward, a British expat living in Kuala Lumpur. It is a personal blog, not a company. If you want to get in touch, use the contact page.
What is collected
When you just read the site
Basic, anonymous visitor statistics are recorded — which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world visitors come from, which site referred them, and what type of device they used. This is used only to understand which articles people find useful. It is not used to identify individual people and it is not sold or shared.
When you contact me
If you fill in the contact form, you provide your name, email address and message. That information is used to reply to you and nothing else. It is not added to a mailing list without your say-so, and it is not passed to anyone.
When you comment
If commenting is enabled on an article and you leave a comment, your name, email address and comment are stored so the comment can be displayed and moderated. Your email address is not published.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site may use them to keep the site working properly and secure, to remember your preferences, and to record anonymous visitor statistics as described above.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
Third parties
Some parts of the site rely on outside services, and those services have their own privacy policies:
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Hostinger, which keeps standard server logs.
- Security. A security plugin monitors for malicious traffic and may log IP addresses of blocked attempts.
- Embedded content. Articles sometimes embed videos or maps from other sites. Those providers may collect data about you as if you had visited their site directly.
- Affiliate partners. Where the site uses affiliate links, the retailer may set a cookie to record that you arrived from here. See the affiliate disclosure for the full explanation.
Advertising
This site does not run display advertising and does not sell your data. It does not build advertising profiles of visitors.
How long information is kept
Contact form messages and comments are kept for as long as they are useful for correspondence or context. Anonymous statistics are kept indefinitely in aggregate form. You can ask for your data to be deleted at any time.
Your rights
You can ask what personal data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to me via the contact page and I will deal with it.
Children
This site is aimed at adults and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
