Best Rooftop Bars in Kuala Lumpur (2026) — Views, Prices, and What’s Worth It

KL’s skyline is genuinely impressive — the Petronas Towers, the KL Tower, the endless high-rises of Bukit Bintang — and the city has a good selection of rooftop bars that make the most of it.

Some are spectacular. Some are overpriced tourist traps that happened to put a bar on a roof. This guide covers the ones worth your time, plus what to realistically expect in terms of price, views, and dress code.

The Best Rooftop Bars in KL

1. Heli Lounge Bar — The Helicopter Pad Bar

The most famous rooftop bar in KL, and for good reason. Heli Lounge Bar sits on top of a 34-floor building in Bukit Bintang, literally on the helipad. There’s no surrounding wall — just a painted circle on the roof and the KL skyline in every direction. The Petronas Towers are visible in the distance. Sunsets here are excellent.

Drinks: RM 30–60 for cocktails. You’ll pay for a drink minimum or cover charge on weekends (RM 35–50 including one drink).
Dress code: Smart casual — no flip flops, no singlets
Best time: Arrive 30–45 minutes before sunset to get a spot on the edge

2. SkyBar — Traders Hotel KLCC

On the 33rd floor of Traders Hotel, SkyBar has one of the best direct views of the Petronas Towers in the city. The pool is in the foreground of most photos — the hotel lets rooftop guests use it, and you’ll have seen the image a hundred times before you get here.

Drinks: RM 45–80 per cocktail. Premium pricing for the location.

3. Marini’s on 57 — Most Upscale

The most premium rooftop dining and bar experience in KL. On the 57th floor of a tower adjacent to the Twin Towers, Marini’s has the highest rooftop bar view in the Golden Triangle, an excellent cocktail menu, and proper Italian restaurant food.

4. WOOBAR — W Hotel Kuala Lumpur

A stylish rooftop pool bar at the W Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The pool is the centrepiece — a dramatic edge-pool with city views. Good for a chic afternoon drink. Less Twin Towers view, more KL skyline generally. Strong cocktail menu, good music.

5. Luna Bar — Pacific Regency Hotel

A long-established KL rooftop bar with views across to KL Tower. More affordable than the KLCC competitors, still excellent views. Good for a more relaxed evening — not as polished as Marini’s, but half the price and genuinely fun. Popular with locals and expats rather than primarily hotel guests.

6. The Roof @ G Tower — City Fringe Views

7. Above Rooftop — Aloft Hotel KL Sentral

Near KL Sentral, with views across the KL Sentral transport hub and the city rising behind it. Not a Twin Towers view, but a different perspective on the city — useful if you’re staying in that area. Good cocktail menu, laid-back atmosphere.

What to Expect at KL Rooftop Bars

Pricing

Rooftop bars in KL are significantly more expensive than ground-level bars and hawker food, but still cheaper than equivalent venues in Singapore, London, or Sydney. Budget RM 100–200 per person for drinks and possibly a bite to eat. The premium spots (Marini’s) will be RM 200–400+ for a full evening.

Weather

The biggest variable. KL has afternoon/evening thunderstorms frequently, particularly from March–May and September–November. Check the weather before going, and have a plan B. Most venues have indoor space as a backup. If it’s overcast, you still get the city lights — just no sunset.

Dress Code

Consistently smart casual at minimum. The higher-end venues (Marini’s, SkyBar) expect collared shirts and closed shoes. Flip flops will get you turned away almost everywhere. Women have more flexibility but not unlimited — beach wear won’t pass.

Best Time to Go

Sunset (roughly 7–7:30pm year-round, KL being close to the equator) for the golden hour. Arrive 30–45 minutes before. After 9pm, most bars shift to a nightlife crowd and the views become city-lights focused rather than sunset.

The Cheapest Way to See the View

If you’re budget-conscious but still want the KL skyline view, the observation deck at KL Tower (Menara KL) costs around RM 52 (adult) and puts you 421 metres up with 360-degree views including the Petronas Towers. No drinks minimum, no dress code, no queue for a sunset spot. Worth knowing about.

Similarly, the Petronas Twin Towers Skybridge (RM 85 including Sky Deck) gives you a different perspective — looking out from inside the towers rather than at them. Book in advance.
